Auki Labs

Auki Labs is a venture-funded spatial computing startup that’s building the fundamental building blocks of the future AR metaverse, and a new positioning protocol to help every device and person find their place in the world. Literally.

The multi-disciplinary engineering team at Auki Labs is building a platform that enables the world’s first truly social AR experiences, with instant calibration and multipeer positioning. We believe this AR interoperability layer is a crucial building block of the spatial canvas of the future metaverse.

We offer remote work, but have offices in Hong Kong and Taipei. Compensation with salary and equity, liberal vacation policy, flexible working hours and freedom under responsibility.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to put your finger on the scale and help shape the future of the metaverse, contact us today. We are crafting a new reality, and we want to work with craftspeople like you.

Responsibilities:

Lead the Unity development efforts of Auki’s Research & Development Team.
Plan, design and develop Auki related technology products and tooling.
Assist with road-map planning related to the development of Auki products.
Work on performance optimizations.
Collaborate with other Auki Labs teams on integration and implementation of end-to-end solutions.
Work with third party developers to help them with integrations.
Stay up to date with the industry and provide suggestions, advice and road-maps accordingly.

Requirements:

5 years experience writing 3D graphics software professionally (or equivalent, e.g. the demoscene).
You are a true software engineer first and foremost, and Unity is just another tool in your belt.
At least 5 years experience as a Senior Software Engineer or Systems Architect in a results-oriented and strong engineering environment.
At least 3 years experience with Unity3D.
Strong software architecture skills and knowledge of software design patterns like MVC, MVCS, SOLID. You’re able to think ahead and create modular and decoupled designs that make it easier to collaborate, iterate and grow.
3D maths. Augmented reality and gaming intersect where math gets complicated, so it’s important that you can hold your own with linear algebra and other advanced math.
Understanding of how rendering engines and game engines work under the hood. Experience writing rendering-engines using API’s like Direct3D/OpenGL/Vulkan/Metal is a BIG plus.
Shaders. Experience writing shaders from scratch and enough understanding to hack existing shaders.
Real-time multiplayer environments. Our augmented reality engine is being built to support a large amount of concurrent users interacting in fast-paced environments. Experience with TCP/UDP/Websockets or networking engines such as Photon.
