We are hiring a Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Dubai!
Main purpose: The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for understanding, quantifying, budgeting and managing the costs of the furniture manufacturing projects. He/she plays a key role in ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.Role deliverables
Cost control: The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the budget for furniture manufacturing, and for ensuring that costs are kept under control.
This includes:
preparing detailed cost estimates for standard range & custom joinery including materials, labour, and overhead costs
monitoring costs against budget
identifying and mitigating cost risks
Updating the prices in an organised pricelist for the standard range of furniture manufactured by the factory (tables, cabinets)
Material take-off: the Quantity Surveyor is responsible to conduct a material take-off, including reviewing plans and specifications, to accurately determine the quantities of materials required for each project.
Sourcing of material: the Quantity Surveyor supports the Factory Procurement Officer to select, price and source materials, securing the best prices and services required for furniture and custom joinery.
Risk management: The Quantity Surveyor is responsible to identify and assess risks associated with furniture manufacturing projects and to develop suitable responses.
Cost reporting: The Quantity Surveyor prepares regular cost reports for project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and project managers.
Technical expertise: The Quantity Surveyor has a strong understanding of furniture manufacturing technologies, materials, and methods, and provides technical advice to project teams.
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, engineering, construction management, or similar
Chartered status with a relevant professional body
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
Able to read and understand drawings and contractual terms
Familiar with evaluation of tender, preparation of tender & quotation
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Knowledge of furniture manufacturing processes and materials
