Value Analysis Specialist

Key Responsibilities

Assist in implementation of standardization opportunities, benchmark findings, clinical assessments of supplies and technology and other key activities in support of clinically integrated supply chain;
Collaborate regularly with Strategic Sourcing & Contracts and Logistics & Distribution Section team members to review requests for new consumable products or equipment, validate clinical need by reviewing available alternatives and support decision making accordingly, with necessary product facts, clinical evidence and any available benchmarks;
Stay abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of VA by attending online seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, participating in educational programs through appropriate professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure;
Interact with appropriate staff to develop, coordinate and integrate cost management programs into department services. Collaborates with departments to monitor and report compliance of implemented changes in products, services, processes and contracts;
Collaborate with department managers to monitor and report compliance of implemented changes in products, services and SC processes; Work with appropriate SC team members and Clinical teams organization-wide, to develop processes for initial cleaning and maintaining Item Master File, to improve reporting and data accuracy;
Utilize benchmarking findings, technology assessments, and other information to assist in identification and implementation of product, service and process related cost-savings measures;
Work with the appropriate departmental management staff to make necessary recommendations on removal of identified savings from the hospital budget;
Coordinate product/technology, service and SC-related process evaluation by initiating studies and evaluating all components for maximum cost effectiveness. Support SC Strategic Sourcing Team to ensure that all evaluations are free of any bias and conducted in a professional manner.
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical and clinical staff, to drive clinical integration of decision making;
Facilitate appropriate/assigned Value Analysis clinical teams by clinical specialty/category;
Conduct appropriate market research to identify equivalent consumable products or medical technology;
Review clinical information available, to establish the evidence of clinical efficacy of consumable products or medical technology in question;
Identify opportunities for cost savings related to improved product, service and process standardization and/or utilization. Apply clinical knowledge and operational expertise in assisting in the selection, evaluation, monitoring, analysis and implementation of cost-effective, high quality products, services and processes within;

Educational Qualifications:

Required:

Registered Nurse, with a RN license (does not have to be active)
Minimum 5 years of relevant, recent clinical experience
Good working knowledge of various medical supplies and commonly used equipment

Experience:

Required

Experience working in a healthcare facility setting (large hospital or academic medical center), with experience in acute care areas (for ex.: Operating Room, ICU or Emergency Room)
Experience in working with multi-cultures
Strong analytical & problem solving skills
Desired

Experience in a large healthcare facility
Previous budgetary and financial analysis experience preferred

Additional Requirements:

Required:

3 years process/quality improvement, value analysis, or related experience in a healthcare setting
Solid proficiency in the English language
MS Office Suite and general computer proficiency
Ability to deal with multiple issues simultaneously (multitask) and move them all towards final resolution or a common goal
Ability to meet deadlines
Good organization skills (Task and Time Management)
Good communication skills
Effective presentation skills to individuals and groups
Desired:

Proficiency in the Arabic Language
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Previous experience in Supply Chain
